POWERFLUSHING

The Process

Any particular cold spots in pipework and radiators are noted, this will identify any areas that require more attention. The use of a thermal imaging camera can help with this process.

Specially designed chemicals are pumped by machine around the system at a very high flow rate, much higher than your standard central heating pump, this lifts the sludge and iron oxide particles and transports them out to a drain. The process on average will take most of a day depending on how many radiators are installed as each radiator is flushed individually until the water runs clear, the boiler and cylinder coil are also flushed.

We also attach a powerful magnetic filter to the flushing circuit to capture any iron oxide particles, thus preventing them from re-entering the system.

Once the flush is complete an inhibitor chemical is introduced and left in the system, this is designed to greatly reduce the rate of future corrosion. it is advisable to replenish this inhibitor every 3 years or if the system is drained for any reason.

Recommended extras

Magnetic system filter

On completion of a powerflush it is strongly advisable to install a magnetic system filter as close to the boiler as possible on the central heating return pipe. This filter will capture any future build up of iron oxide particles before they enter the boiler heat exchanger and therefore prolong the life of the boiler.

This filter is cleaned out on a yearly basis, normally in conjunction with an annual boiler service.

We use industry recognised Adey system filters.

Deaerator

The addition of a microbubble deaerator onto the central heating flow pipework from the boiler will help to remove any air in the circulating water. As previously mentioned, air is a major factor in the corrosion process in heating systems.

We use industry recognised Spirotech deaerators.
